These three thrown and altered vessels were fired in a Japanese Noborigama kiln. The flame encircled each vessel leaving its mark with ash as it made its path through the arched kiln chambers before escaping through the chimney. Each work is placed in the kiln with care, hoping to understand the flames path, but knowing the flames have their own ideas. The spiraling vines also encircle each vessel giving the viewer the feeling of growth and serpentine-like movement.
